Please look at the "normal" photo of Faith Hill on the right and compare it to the published photo on the left. Someone please explain to me why that photo needed altered to the degree it was altered. She has some bags under her eyes, a lil' bit of back fat and well-endowed, womanly hips. God Forbid!! Is she still not pretty people?? Then please draw your attention to the caption under the title of "faith and tim",---WHAT'S Thursday, September 13, 2007
RANT- America's obsession with perfection.

How did you find the original photo? When I'm in line at the grocery store, I love to look throught those rags that have pix of stars without makeup. Some of them look gasplike ordinary people!
I thought I put a space between gasp and like! I wish we could edit our comments!
Hey Danette!! Thanks for stopping by....I got the pic from TMZ. I just can't believe that they would have to alter Faith Hill.
LOL You can tell your a writer when you have to leave another comment to further revise your first one:)
What a sad message for our daughters (and for us!). I think Dove's Campaign for Real Beauty is a step in the right direction. Let's hope more people stand up and make a fuss!
Fun blog. :)

I agree...not being able to edit my comments drives me crazy. Every time I post a blog, I edit it at least 3 times.
Anyways, not what I was going to say- I was going to say that it really is sad that they felt the need to alter that picture. If anything, I may have made they undereye bags a little less profound, but even that...not really necessary. I suppose though, that if you're going to alter something you might as well go the whole way. She looks sort of annorexic in the "after" picture. Yuck.
I was reading "People Magazine in Espanol" today (because it's the only magazine my library carries in Spanish) and I saw a Hanes Her Way ad with a full figured woman. It was refreshing (though a little alarming since we're not used to seeing that). However, she was still obviously airbrushed- everything was soft and she had no cellulite. Who the hell has thighs that big without cellulite? Or a paunchy belly to match? Spanish women, apparently. Alas, I can only dream :)-
I wish I had a lil Spanish in me, cause I jiggle with the best of em:)I could see them covering a pimple but come on, everything? I remember watching European films, the film festival kind, (I swear) and the women's bodies and faces were so unique and different that it was attractive just for that reason. So I find myself just buying Dove and Hanes to get the point across that we don't need some advertising exec's idea of beauty, we just need honest beauty. There. I feel better now. Gonna go eat some chips now and work on my idea of honest beauty:)
I totally agree with you. America is extremely obsessed with perfection; It's extremely sad. I thought faith looked great in the original picture
